Kairos: New Moon Sound Bath & Ritual
Event Details
A two-hour sound bath and new moon ritual in York.
You lie down, wrapped in your own blanket, and let sound move through you for an hour. Before that, you’re guided gently in. Afterwards, you write, reflect and take a small ritual home.
That’s it. Nothing to prepare, perform or get right.
If you’ve never been to a sound bath, this is a good place to start. If you have, it’s a chance to come back to yourself.
If you’re wondering whether this is for you
It might be if:
You’re always the one holding everything together
You look like you’re coping brilliantly and you’re tired underneath
You’ve been meaning to slow down for months
You feel a bit flat, a bit wired, or a bit not-yourself
You’re curious, but you’ve never done anything like this before
You don’t need to be spiritual. You don’t need to know anything about the moon. You don’t need to talk to anyone unless you want to.
You can come on your own. Most people do.
You’re welcome exactly as you are.
A quick note on Kairos
Kairos is a Greek word for the right time. Not clock time. The moment that’s ready for you.
It’s also the name of the framework I’ve built as a resilience coach: a soul-and-science approach to building resilience that’s restored, not performed. It moves through four pillars, in a loop, not a ladder. Nobody graduates and nobody falls behind. You just keep coming back round.
This afternoon is one turn of that loop.
How the afternoon unfolds
Rooted: arriving
You come in and find your spot. We settle, and I’ll share a little about the new moon and the turning of the season, so you know where we are in the year. Then a guided relaxation to bring you back into your body.
Revealing: the sound bath
For one hour, you lie back and let the sound do the work. You set an intention first, and then you let it go. Your mind might wander or go quiet. Either is fine. Sound moves through your body and can release tension you didn’t even realise you were carrying.
Rewriting: journalling
When the sound softens, you come back slowly and pick up your journal. First, free-style: write down whatever came through. Then three guided prompts inspired by the Libra new moon, the sign of balance, and autumn. This is just for you. Nobody reads it and nobody asks you to share.
Rising: the ritual and your gift bag
We close with a simple season ritual to take home, and you leave with a gift bag: bath salts, a tea light candle and a relaxing tea. The afternoon doesn’t end when you walk out the door. Run the bath, light the candle, pour the tea, and you’re back in it.
About the new moon
This one is in Libra, the sign of balance. It asks where you’ve been over-giving, where you’ve gone quiet to keep the peace, and what balance would feel like. A new moon is a fresh start, and an excuse to pause and set a gentle intention for what comes next.
Who’s holding this
I’m Sophie, a resilience coach and the founder of Kairos. I’ve spent my working life alongside people, from young people in care to CEOs, and I see the same pattern everywhere: the strongest ones are often the most tired. This is my first sound bath in six months, and I can’t wait to be back in the room.
