Wings of Change Hypnotherapy
About
Dr Jess Johansson (PhD, MSc, BSc, HPD, DSFH)
“I found my wings and now I guide others to fly…”
I am Jess, a qualified and accredited Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and founder of Wings of Change Hypnotherapy.
I tend to support people who look like they’re holding it all together, but inside feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they even are anymore. Life can be beautiful, but it can also be heavy. So many things can pull you away from feeling like you whether that is grief, childhood or adult trauma, relationship shifts, parenting, caring for others, health challenges, or just the constant overwhelm of everything as a child or adult.
Wings of Change Hypnotherapy was born from my own healing journey. My experiences a few years ago led me to have this therapy myself along with other wellness approaches, all of which gave me a true understanding of the power of the mind–body connection. I realised that healing isn’t just about changing thoughts, it’s about feeling safe in your body too. I’m deeply passionate about mind–body healing because I want more people to realise when your nervous system softens and your mind feels supported, change becomes possible. I am living proof of the shift from surviving to thriving and I want that for more people too!
My approach is warm, collaborative and creative. Therapy with me is a partnership – we are in it together and you can think of me as your cheerleader. I bring a balance of my therapeutic training, my own wisdom and my academic knowledge from my other role as a senior academic researcher in stroke and ageing research. I also bring heart, intuition and a naturally uplifting, joyous energy. I believe growth doesn’t have to feel clinical or intimidating – it can feel empowering, hopeful and even a little bit magical.
Creativity is woven through everything I do in both of my roles. I love writing and published my poetry book Life — The Mundane, The Messiness and The Magic. This book reflects that healing holds all of it; the ordinary days, the chaos, and the beauty in between. I’m also proud to be an Executive Contributor to Brains Magazine where I will be sharing articles about things I am passionate about in relation to my work. Alongside my 1:1 work, I actively seek connection and collaboration – hosting stalls, signing up to events, and being part of communities because I genuinely love being inspired by others and sharing that energy.
I work online and in person at Heritage Exchange in Lindley. You can find me on Instagram and Facebook (see links), and my website is coming very soon.
If you’re ready to move beyond just surviving and want to start thriving, I’d love to walk alongside you while you grow your Wings of Change 🦋
